Attorney Profile

Bruce Alter began his career as a criminal defense attorney in 1976. After graduating with highest honors from Brown University and the Florida State University College of Law, he accepted employment with the Miami-Dade County Public Defenders Office. During his eight (8) years as an assistant public defender he handled hundreds of criminal cases. In 1981 he was promoted to Senior Trial Attorney, supervising the development of other attorneys, and specializing in complex litigation and capital homicides.

In 1984 Mr. Alter opened his own law firm in Miami, committed solely to criminal defense. For the past 31 years he has had enormous success in defending clients in both the State of Florida and Federal courts throughout the country. He has tried numerous cases relating to narcotics violations, RICO, homicide, sexual abuse, and white-collar criminal activity.

Mr. Alter is active on both the national and state level in promoting the constitutional rights of the individual and combating abuse of governmental power. He has served for many years on the Board of Directors of the Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers for both the state and local chapters.
